Foods May Trigger Migraines
The Windsor Star – Common migraine food triggers include alcohol (especially red wine), MSG, foods like aged cheeses and soy sauce, which contain tyramine, aspartame, nitrates in cold cuts and sausages, caffeine and dairy products. Additionally, studies have shown migraine sufferers have low magnesium levels. Magnesium stores are compromised by estrogen, birth control pills and certain diuretics. Taking 600 mg of magnesium a day in divided doses may help control the severity of migraines.
